Explore the area and choose how you will spend your holiday at Porto Pino Holiday
Porto Pino is not only one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia but is part of a precious environmental ecosystem where flora, fauna and man coexist. Every year thousands of tourists choose this location, located on the South West coast of Sardinia, to spend their holidays. The characteristics of the area make it a perfect destination for people who are looking for a regenerating holiday, between sea, nature and outdoor sports.
The beach looks like a tongue of fine sand 4 km long, which divides the green of the pine forest from the turquoise of the sea water. The shallow water, which distinguishes the first meters of the seabed, makes this beach ideal for children’s fun. The beach also allows safe access for the disabled.
The seaside area of Porto Pino is divided into two areas, called “first and second beach”, separated by the old pier. The first beach, close to the main parking area, is characterized by fine white sand and perfect protection from the mistral wind. There are several bars and restaurants a short distance from the beach and there are kiosks directly on the sand that offer, in addition to the classic bar services, the rental of umbrellas, deckchairs and sea equipment.
In the harbor of portopino, connected to the sea through the canal that flanks the west side of the beach, you can easily book boat trips or rent boats and jet skis. The port can accommodate up to 111 boats, most of the boats present are used for fishing by local fishermen, some of these offer a fishing service in summer with the possibility of visiting the coast and eating on board. The second beach is distinguished by the white sand that ends close to the beautiful dunes called “Is Arenas”. This long stretch of beach is easily accessible from a second car park located in the lagoon.

The promontory of Porto Pino encloses a lush spontaneous pine forest of Aleppo pine, present in Sardinia only in this area and on the island of Carloforte. there are many other plant species that can be found in the pine forest and in the other green areas that distinguish the territory: from the thorny oak, to the juniper, from the Mediterranean scrub to the rosemary, etc.
Not far from the beach of Porto Pino are the more reserved and less crowded coves of Porto Pinetto, Spiaggia dei Francesi and Porto de su Trigu.
The complex of Porto Pino, which includes the complex system of ponds, is one of the sites of Community interest (SIC). The great biodiversity that distinguishes this area is expressed through the colorful plant species and the numerous birds such as pink flamingos, herons, marsh hawks and Himantopus himantopus.
There are several paths that on foot or by bicycle allow you to discover the area along the dirt roads that connect the ponds to the nearby towns. The area is particularly appreciated by nature photographers and bird watchers who find in this area the perfect scene to practice their passion.
The wind, which is rarely lacking in Sardinia, helps the practice of water sports, such as wind surfing and kite surfing. At Porto Pino Holiday you can rent mountain bikes, e-bikes (electric bicycles), sup and equipment for kitesurfing.
In addition to catering services, in Porto Pino you will find a newsstand, a bakery, a mini market and small souvernir shops and equipment for the sea and fishing.
About 6 km separate the town of Porto Pino from the town of Sant’Anna Arresi, the municipality has a total of over 2700 inhabitants, but in summer, thanks to the many tourists, the number of presences in its territory increases fivefold. The town square is presented in all its beauty with the nuraghe and the ancient church of Sant’Anna. Several events and festivals are celebrated throughout the year in the town: from the town festival dedicated to the patron saint Sant’Anna to one of the most important jazz music events in Sardinia “Ai Confini tra Sardegna e Jazz”. The music festival has been renewed for over 20 years in the days between August and September and sees the performance of internationally renowned artists and attracts fans from all over the world.
Sant’Anna Arresi is also synonymous with good wine, it is from its vineyards in the Sulcis area, some located right in Porto Pino, that Carignano, a typical local wine, is produced. The Cantina Mesa is one of the major producers, which stands with its futuristic white structure among the gentle hills of Porto Pino.
